Cold Wave, Rain Warning and Fog Alert in State

Cold northerly winds intensify winter in Rajasthan as daytime temperatures drop; mavath alert issued for several divisions

Udaipur, Jan 1, 2026 – On Wednesday (December 31), Udaipur experienced a drop in temperatures in the day with the mercury falling by 1.8 degrees to settle at 24.7°C. However, the minimum temperature rose by 1.3 degrees to reach 10.8°C.

According to weather updates, snowfall in the northern hilly regions is causing the temperatures to drop and this will continue in the coming days.

Elsewhere in the State, the season’s first Mavath (winter rainfall) was recorded on Wednesday in Bikaner, Barmer, Jaisalmer and Jalore. Jodhpur witnessed rain accompanied by strong winds. Dense fog was recorded in more than 10 districts, including Sikar, Alwar and Jaipur.

Most districts recorded a rise in night temperatures. Only 10 cities reported temperatures below 10°C, with the lowest temperature of 4.6°C recorded in Karauli.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall warning for Bikaner, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions on Thursday and a dense fog alert has been issued for 18 districts. Dense to very dense fog is expected in northern, western and eastern parts of the State till January 3.
