Udaipur Shivers as Day Temperature Dips Below Average

North-westerly winds from the Himalayas intensify cold conditions in Udaipur and Rajasthan; IMD warns of dense fog and possible cold wave in northern districts

Udaipur, Jan 10, 2026 - Chilly north-westerly winds originating from the Himalayas has the entire north-west of India reeling under an extreme cold spell. In Delhi, on Saturday (January 10), the mercury dropped to 4.2°C, which was 2.7 degrees lower than normal and the lowest for this month in two years.

Here, in Udaipur, the day-time temperature continued to remain below average. According to the India Meteorological Department, Friday (January 9) recorded a maximum temperature of 21.1°C and a minimum of 8.2°C. On Thursday, the maximum was 20°C while the minimum remained at 8.2°C. Although there has been a slight rise in day-time temperature, it is still 3°C below average, whereas the night temperature is only 0.6°C below normal.

Weather across most parts of the State is expected to remain mainly dry over the next week, as per the weather office. However, parts of western, northern and eastern Rajasthan may experience dense fog and cold day conditions over the next two to three days. In northern Rajasthan, the minimum temperature may drop by 1-2 degrees, with a strong possibility of cold wave conditions at isolated locations.
