First Rain Teases Udaipur Administration

Knee-level water at multiple points across the city reminded one of the rainy night of September 11, 2011. Udaipur received heavy downpour today with more than 1 inch rain registered till evening 6:30 pm. It started raining since midnight and is still continuing.
Within few hours of rain, Udaipur administration started sweating with water logging turned to be the biggest obstacle followed by loose electric wires, bumped roads and garbage jamming the sewerage.
However, despite the hassles, Udaipurites welcomed the first rain of Monsoon with full enthusiasm. Youth brigade seemed to be enjoying the rains either on the shore of lakes or on facebook by continuously updating rain pictures.
Monday remained nearly dry till late midnight when mild showers knocked the city and series of drizzling continued till today afternoon. Heavy rain started at 3 in the afternoon and drenched the major parts of the city.
Within an hour, water logging was reported from several areas but thankfully, no fatal incidents took place. An electricity pole near court circle caught fire today morning.
According to MET dept. more rain showers are predicted over the next 2 days in Udaipur and nearby areas.
