Flights Delayed, Roads Flooded as Mumbai Faces Torrential Rain
Aug 18, 2025 – Two days of heavy rainfall has caused mayhem in Mumbai disrupting air and road travel. Severe waterlogging in many areas led to heavy traffic jams. Today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red alert for Mumbai and its suburbs for moderate to heavy rainfall within 24 hours.
Local trains are running late, too. Nine flights were aborted and one flight was diverted owing to poor visibility and bad weather conditions. Nine go-arounds were reported as flights aborted landing and tried again. Flights flying out of Mumbai are facing an average delay of 54 minutes. Passengers have been advised to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
Meanwhile, here in Rajasthan monsoon activity is expected to increase during the last week of August. According to the IMD, the monsoon will become active over most parts of the State owing to the formation of a monsoon system over the Bay of Bengal.
Over the next 3 to 4 days, moderate to occasionally heavy rain accompanied by thunder is expected in parts of southern Rajasthan, particularly in the Udaipur and Jodhpur divisions. In the remaining divisions — Kota, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Bikaner — light to moderate rain with thunder is likely at isolated places.
