Fog, Rain & Cold Alert in Rajasthan Jan 25-27
Weather in Rajasthan shifts because of snowfall in the hills and activation of a strong Western Disturbance
Udaipur, Jan 24, 2026 – Udaipur is seeing a sudden change in weather with chilly and dusty winds keeping residents wrapped up in woollens on Friday (January 23). As per reports, wind speeds between 9:00 am and 11:00 am reached 13 km per hour, slowing down to around 10 km per hour by 4:00 pm and then picking up speed again to 15.2 km per hour by 5:00 pm.
The reason behind this shift in weather is being seen because of snowfall in the hills and activation of a strong Western Disturbance.
On Friday, the maximum temperature dropped by 1.7°C to 25.4°C. Despite this decline, the day remained 0.9°C warmer than normal. The night temperature was significantly higher than average, rising by 6.8°C. The minimum temperature suddenly increased by 4.2°C to reach 14.4°C. In January, the average maximum and minimum temperatures are recorded at 24.5°C and 7.6°C respectively.
Across the State, several regions from Jaisalmer to Jaipur experienced storms, hail and rainfall. In many cities, hail fell for the first time this season. Weather conditions changed so drastically that night temperatures rose by up to 9 degrees, while daytime temperatures fell by as much as 9 degrees, increasing the chill during the day. Sri Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Barmer, Jaipur, Pilani and Ajmer were most affected.
A total of 18 cities recorded day-time temperatures below 20°C. Fatehpur saw the steepest drop, with temperatures falling by 11.1 degrees.
Cold conditions are expected to return, clouds will persist, and mavath remains possible. In the coming days, the effect of cold is expected to intensify again, with night temperatures possibly dropping to 7°C.
From January 27, another weather system will become active, with its effects continuing until January 24. After this, two clear days will lead to a drop in night temperatures. Morning fog is expected on January 25 and 26. From January 27, a new Western Disturbance will activate again, bringing rainfall to Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Ajmer and Bikaner divisions.
