Heatwave Alert: Temperature in State May Cross 41°C
Heatwave conditions hit Rajasthan as Pilani and Barmer record temperatures above 40°C in early March; IMD Jaipur warns southwest districts may see temperatures rise above 41°C
Udaipur, March 9, 2026 - The impact of hot western winds have caused in parts of Rajasthan to cross 40°C in the first week of March itself. The maximum temperature may rise above 41°C in the coming days.
The minimum temperature in Udaipur today is likely to be around 17°C, while the maximum temperature may reach up to 37°C. Through the day, the temperature is expected to hover around 34°C, but it may feel like 33°C due to humidity and wind conditions.
In the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature recorded was 36.3°C, which is 4.3 degrees higher than normal. The minimum temperature was 2.4 degrees higher than normal at 16.6°C.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Jaipur, the south-western districts of the State are likely to be most affected by the heatwave conditions. Areas including Pilani and Barmer have already recorded temperatures above 40°C, and the daytime maximum temperature may continue to remain above this level for the next two days.
Officials said the rise in temperature is mainly owing to dry and hot western winds, which are pushing daytime temperatures significantly higher than normal for early March.
