Udaipur, June 11, 2025 - During the first week of June, temperatures in most cities across Rajasthan had dropped 10-12°C below normal, but within five days, the heat has intensified, marking the beginning of a severe heatwave this season.
This signifies that the intense summer heat in the State is far from over. With the effect of the Western Disturbance now subsided, hot winds from the west have begun to dominate. As the weather has turned dry, temperatures have been steadily rising over the past three to four days.
On June 10, temperatures exceeded 45°C in Sri Ganganagar, Kota, Bikaner, Churu, and Chittorgarh. Sri Ganganagar was the hottest city, recording 47.4°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for continued extreme heat over the next week. Most parts of western Rajasthan are expected to experience a severe heatwave. In Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh districts, temperatures may reach 47-48°C over the next 2-3 days.
In eastern Rajasthan, regions like Jaipur, Bharatpur and Kota divisions may also experience heatwaves. IMD forecasts thunderstorms with light rainfall at isolated places on June 15 and 16 in Kota and Bharatpur divisions while strong dusty winds are expected over the next two days in Bikaner region.
