Heatwave Eases; Monsoon Likely by June 25

Light showers reported in parts of Udaipur; temperatures in all cities of Rajasthan fall below 40°C

June 17, 2025 - The spell of pre-monsoon showers continued in several cities of Rajasthan on June 16 leading to a drop of up to 5 degrees Celsius in both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Udaipur too witnessed light showers in some areas including the old city, Savina, Surajpole, Hiran Magri, Police Line and Pratap Nagar. By 5:00 pm, Dabok had recorded 5.2 mm of rainfall. The daytime temperature increased by 1.8 degrees to 38.6°C, while the nighttime temperature dropped by 1.1 degrees to 25.5°C.

Across Rajasthan, in the past 24 hours, rainfall continued in several cities including Jaipur, Kota, Barmer, Jodhpur and Sikar. Kota recorded the highest rainfall at 66 mm. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this spell of rain is likely to continue. The pre-monsoon showers have led to daytime temperatures in all cities falling below 40°C. The highest temperature was recorded in Barmer at 39.2°C.

Today, June 17, we may see cloudy skies across the district with chances of light rainfall in some areas, as per the IMD. Udaipur may see the arrival of the monsoon by June 25 or even earlier.
