Monsoon finally burst through the doors of the Lakecity today afternoon.  After 3-4 hours of sultry and humid weather after slight showers in the early morning hours, a heavy downpour was witnessed across many parts of the city towards late afternoon.

The showers started early in the morning from 5-6am and the downpour occurred in the afternoon for three hours from 4pm to 7pm. Major city roundabouts and crossroads were water logged and traffic was in its usual mess.

As measured by the Weather Department, 51 mm rain was recorded in last 10 hours in the city, whereas 31mm rain was recorded in last 24 hours. In the whole region, 34.2 mm rain was recorded in 24 hours and 4 mm rain was recorded in 12 hours.
