Heavy Fog Alert for North India

A Western Disturbance may trigger snowfall in northern States, sending cold winds into Mewar

 |

Udaipur, Dec 15, 2025 – A decline in temperatures is likely to be seen again across the entire Mewar region over the next three days. This is owing to the possibility of snowfall caused by a Western Disturbance in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. As a result, cold winds are expected to blow across Mewar and other parts of the State, increasing the chances of a cold wave.

Amid the intensifying cold, there is also a possibility of the first Mavath (winter rainfall) of the season in some parts of the State.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Sunday (December 14), the maximum temperature in Udaipur was recorded at 28°C and the minimum at 9.6°C. The previous day the maximum temperature was 29.1°C and the minimum was also 9.6°C. This indicates a drop of 1.1 degrees in the day-time temperature, while the night temperature remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, heavy fog alert has been issued for northern India with Delhi and the NCR experiencing poor visibility. A travel advisory has been released by the Civil Aviation Ministry saying, “Airports in Northern India are experiencing dense fog, severely affecting visibility. For Passengers: Before heading to the airport, please check the latest flight status with your airline. Check flight information on the airport website/app. Please allow extra travel time."

While Rajasthan witnessed record-breaking cold in November as compared to previous years, December has so far been milder than last year. By mid-December last year, daytime temperatures hovered around 24-25°C, while minimum temperatures were close to 4°C. In contrast, over the past few days this year, day-time temperatures have remained around 28°C, with minimum temperatures near 9°C.

However, temperatures are still above normal, with the day-time temperature around 2 degrees higher than average and the night temperature about 1.1 degrees above normal.
