Heavy Rain Wreaks Havoc in North India; Rajasthan Sees Lull in Monsoon
Aug 9, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh Orange alert for heavy rainfall in three districts of Himachal Pradesh on August 11 and 12. A Yellow alert has been issued for the rest of the State. Continuous torrential downpour in the State has led to floods and landslides causing around 202 monsoon-related deaths. Power failures, road closures and impaired water supply have added to residents’ woes.
Meanwhile, a Red alert has been issued for Delhi and the NCR for today, August 9, as heavy rain lashed several parts of the region since early this morning. More than 100 flights have been delayed and airlines have issued advisories for travellers to be prepared for disruptions.
Here in Rajasthan, monsoon has become sluggish and is likely to remain so for the next week, as per the IMD. According to the weather office, the monsoon will regain activity after August 15 leading to heavy rainfall in some areas of the State.
The minimum temperature in Udaipur today, August 9, is likely to hover around 23°C, while the maximum temperature might reach 30°C. Over the next week, Udaipur is set to experience predominantly cloudy skies with hints of rain returning later in the week, according to weather reports.
