Heavy Rains in East Rajasthan; Orange Alert for 3 Districts
Yellow alert for 24 districts in the State; light-to-moderate rainfall is likely in some parts of the Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur and Bikaner divisions
Udaipur, Sept 5, 2026 - The eastern part of Rajasthan witnessed heavy-to-moderate rainfall on Friday, September 4. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), showers continued through the day in Jaipur, Kota, Jhalawar, Dholpur, Sawai Madhopur and Baran bringing down temperatures by around 4 to 5° Celsius.
According to the Jaipur weather office, the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours was seen in Khandar (Sawai Madhopur), where around 5 inches of rain was recorded.
The weather system that moved in from the Bay of Bengal is being seen as the main reason behind the current spell of rain in Rajasthan. Under its influence, rainfall activity has increased in the eastern part of the State. The monsoon trough is also active and extends from Rajasthan through Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh towards the Bay of Bengal.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall may continue in several parts of eastern Rajasthan on September 5. Rain and thunderstorm activity may also be witnessed at some places on September 6. The weather department has issued an Orange alert for heavy rainfall in Dholpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur for Saturday. In addition, a Yellow alert has been issued for 24 districts in the State.
Light-to-moderate rainfall is likely in some parts of the Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur and Bikaner divisions. IMD has forecast a decline in heavy rainfall activity from September 6 and 7. However, light-to-moderate rain is likely to continue in some parts of the Bharatpur, Jaipur and Kota divisions.
