In Udaipur, the drought has ended, even though there was a rain alert for Monday, August 12,2024. According to Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Center, the monsoon system is currently active in the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions. This means that heavy rain is not expected in the Udaipur division for the next five days.
However, the wait for heavy rain in Udaipur might come to an end in the last week of August. Late Sunday night, light rain fell in several areas of the district.
From Sunday evening at 5:00 PM to Monday morning at 8:00 AM, the recorded rainfall was as follows: Gogunda received 3 mm, Devas 8 mm, Jhadol 4 mm, Kotda 11 mm, Nai 1 mm, Ogna 13 mm, and Udai Sagar 1 mm.
Heavy Rainfall in Other Parts of Rajasthan
Eight people died in rain-related incidents in other states of Rajasthan on Monday, bringing the total number of deaths in the past two days to 22. The heavy rain is expected to continue in the eastern part of the state for the next four to five days. The heavy rain has caused flooding in Karauli and Hindaun, leading to severe waterlogging in low areas. Overflowing dams and rivers have disrupted daily life. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited affected areas on Monday evening to assess the situation.
Because of the heavy rain warning, schools were closed on Monday in Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Dausa, and Karauli. The meteorological center said that heavy rain will likely continue in parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, and Ajmer divisions in eastern Rajasthan for the next four to five days.
Death Incident Reported
Twenty-five people stuck at Trinetra Ganeshji temple in Ranthambore, Sawai Madhopur, were rescued by an SDRF team. The rescue operation started on Sunday night and ended on Monday morning. By 9:30 pm Sunday, 17 people had been rescued, and six more were saved on Monday.
On Monday, five bodies were found in Jaipur's Kanota dam, where they had been swept away the previous evening. Two others drowned while bathing in Galta Kund. Additionally, a 30-year-old man in Dausa died after being washed away by strong water currents at Moroli dam.
Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot that more than 25 people have died in rain-related accidents in the state. Chief Minister Sharma advised people to avoid bathing in rivers, stay away from electric poles and wires, and not use building basements during the rainy season for safety.
