Rain Brings Relief to Rajasthan; Mercury Dips by 5 Degrees

IMD issues storm and rain alert for 19 districts of Rajasthan as Western Disturbance brings relief from extreme heat; temperatures drop across Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Barmer; Udaipur records 40°C

Udaipur, April 29, 2026 - The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for storm and rain in 19 districts of Rajasthan for Wednesday (April 29) owing to the activation of the Western Disturbance. This morning, light rain was witnessed in Jaipur, Alwar and Dausa. Additionally, late Tuesday night Sikar district was hit by thunder, lightning and heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds and hailstones in some parts.

Some relief from the heat is being felt following thunderstorms and rainfall with the maximum temperature dropping by five degrees in several districts of the State. In the last 24 hours, the temperature in Jaisalmer dropped from 46.4°C to 40.8°C. Jaipur also recorded a fall of nearly three degrees. Apart from this, a drop of up to 5 degrees in temperature was also seen in Barmer, Fatehpur, Pilani, Hanumangarh, Nagaur and Churu.

The IMD has predicted the possibility of thunderstorms and rain for the next four days but the intense heat is expected to return in the upcoming month starting May 2. In the month of April, the maximum temperature reached up to 46°C but in May it may rise even higher than this.

Over the past 24 hours, Udaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 40°C while minimum temperature remained at 24°C.
