A most humid Monday turned into the most thunderous day today when the City of Lakes witnessed terrific rain showers with sky-scraping lightning and storms since afternoon till late evening.
A most humid Monday turned into the most thunderous day today when the City of Lakes witnessed terrific rain showers with sky-scraping lightning and storms since afternoon till late evening.
Having started not less than a sudden attack, the rain hit several parts of the city in the afternoon at around 2:30 and continued with heavy showers till 3pm.
Major parts of the city were drenched with rain and water logging, raising traffic problems while several groups of students and families were seen enjoying rain near the lake’s shore.
The water irrigation department recorded 12mm rain since afternoon while the rain recorded last night was 21mm.
Mishaps were also recorded in some parts of the city due to rain as a tree branch fell over a moving car and a motorbike at Ayad near Maa Satiya today.
According to sources, the incident occurred when a large branch of a Peepal tree fell over a Hyundai Verna car damaging the rear body while the driver escaped unhurt. A motorcycle was also damaged in the same area, fortunately the bike owner Rajendra Kothari was standing in a shed near to where the bike was standing.
Lalit Daima, one of the residents told UT that they have asked the administration regarding the feeble condition of the tree but nobody responded.
More rain and thunderstorm is expected in the city this week as per the Met department.
