Udaipur experienced unexpected rainfall on Friday, September 20,2024 after a dry period of about 10 days. The weather changed around 3:00 PM, with clouds gathering and heavy rain starting by 5:00 PM.
Areas such as Savina, Sector 3 and 8 of Hiran Magri, Madri, and Pratapnagar saw rainfall lasting for about one and a half to two hours. However, the Meteorological and Water Resources Department was unable to provide rainfall figures until late at night.
Previously, on September 11, the city received 26 mm of rain. Since then, residents had been eagerly waiting for more rainfall. The meteorological department issued several yellow alerts, but each day passed without significant rain.
Following Friday’s rain, temperatures dropped slightly. The daytime temperature decreased by 1.3 degrees to 31.2 degrees Celsius, while the nighttime temperature fell by 0.6 degrees to 20.7 degrees Celsius. Water inflow into the lakes continues, prompting officials to open the gates of Fatehsagar Lake by 3 inches each, Swaroop Sagar by 4 inches each, and Udaisagar Lake by 6 inches each.
According to Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Center in Jaipur, there may be more rain in Udaipur district from September 21 to 23. However, he noted that no strong weather system is forming, so heavy rainfall is unlikely. Light rain may occur in some areas.
