Rajasthan Monsoon Weakens as Monsoon Trough Shifts North
There are chances of light rain or drizzle in some areas in the Bharatpur, Jaipur and Kota divisions; western Rajasthan is expected to remain dry
Udaipur, August 28, 2026 - Rainfall activity over Rajasthan is expected to remain subdued over the next few days as the monsoon trough shifts towards northern India, according to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre. As a result, there is a strong possibility that rainfall activity will decrease across most parts of Rajasthan over the next week, with weak monsoon conditions expected to prevail.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dry weather across the State over the next four days. However, there are chances of light rain or drizzle in some areas in the Bharatpur, Jaipur and Kota divisions. Western Rajasthan is expected to remain dry.
Rainfall activity may increase again in some parts of eastern Rajasthan during the first week of September, particularly between September 4 and 7, says the IMD.
According to the Met Department, Rajasthan has received 21% less rainfall than average this monsoon season.
Because of the dry conditions, several parts of Rajasthan continue to experience intense heat in August. Temperatures have risen in western Rajasthan owing to the prevailing westerly winds.
