Rajasthan Weather: Five Cities Go Past 40°C; Barmer at 41.6°C

Udaipur and Rajasthan face rising heat as temperatures surge past 40°C in multiple cities; IMD warns of further increase in coming days

Udaipur, April 15, 2026 - Rajasthan has begun to feel the advent of a heatwave with the impact of the Western Disturbance coming to an end and hot winds blowing. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming days. The administration and Health Department have advised people to exercise caution, avoid the midday sun and consume plenty of fluids.

In Udaipur, daytime temperature has increased by more than 7 degrees in the past one week. On Tuesday (April 14), the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.6°C and the minimum at 19.6°C. Earlier on Monday, the maximum was 39.2°C (the hottest day of the month) and the minimum was 18.4°C. While there was a slight drop in daytime temperature, the night temperature has increased by 1 degree. The daytime temperature remains about 1°C above normal.

Across Rajasthan, both day and night temperatures are increasing. On Tuesday, a rise of 2–3°C was observed in daytime temperatures. According to the IMD, five cities recorded maximum temperatures above 40°C. The highest temperature was recorded in Barmer at 41.6°C, followed by Kota at 41.5°C. In most other cities, daytime temperatures exceeded 38°C. Similarly, Pali recorded a sharp rise of up to 11°C in minimum temperature, reaching 23.8°C.
