Active Western Disturbance brings cloud cover and rain in some districts of Rajasthan; weather department forecasts conditions to continue for a week
Udaipur, May 3, 2025 – Yesterday, on May 2, an active Western Disturbance remained active over the city leading to light overcast skies and dusty winds. The daytime temperature dropped by 0.6 degrees, settling at 38.7°C. Night-time temperature also dipped by 2.1 degrees, reaching 22.7°C.
Notably, both day and night temperatures have reached such low levels for the first time in the past three days. Earlier, the daytime high was consistently around or just above 39°C, while night-time temperatures hovered around or above 24°C.
In Dabok as well, the maximum temperature dropped by 1.4 degrees reaching 41.6°C. The night temperature there saw a sharper fall of 4.4 degrees, settling at 26°C.
Meanwhile, weather across the region has shifted significantly. Several western and eastern districts have experienced thunderstorms and rain easing the severe heatwave. Temperatures have fallen by 7 to 10 degrees. Just two days ago, mercury levels had touched 45°C in some areas, but yesterday, temperatures in 18 cities dropped below 40°C.
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, a further decline of 2 to 4 degrees is expected in the coming days, along with cloud cover and possible rain, which may bring more relief from the summer heat.
Cities like Pilani, Alwar, Jaipur, Sangaria, Sri Ganganagar, Churu and Jhunjhunu saw their maximum temperatures fall by 5 to 10 degrees. The India Meteorological Department has forecast that this spell of thunderstorms and rain is likely to continue for about a week.
