Heavy Rainfall and Hailstorms Hit Some Parts Rajasthan

Heavy Rainfall

Several areas in Rajasthan experienced heavy rainfall, hailstorms, and dust storms on April 6, 2024, leading to a significant decrease in temperatures by almost 5 degrees Celsius for both minimum and maximum readings.

The meteorological department reported a rainfall of 140mm in Ajmer and Bhopalgarh (Jodhpur), marking the highest precipitation in the state on Saturday. However, it forecasts a subsequent rise in temperatures across majority of Rajasthan starting from Monday.

Following Ajmer, notable rainfall was recorded in Narayana (Jaipur) with 100mm, Shahpura (Jaipur) with 80mm, and Osian (Jodhpur) with 60mm. Various other places in districts like Jaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jodhpur, Nagaur, and Pali witnessed rainfall ranging from 40mm to 10mm. Additionally, hailstorms and dust storms were reported in several areas during Saturday afternoon.

In Jaipur, the day commenced with drizzles and a minimum temperature of 24.1 degrees Celsius. The city experienced scattered rainfall and dust storms from late Friday evening till early Saturday morning. By afternoon, the maximum temperature reached 35.4 degrees Celsius. Sunday is anticipated to have partially cloudy conditions with minimal chances of rain.

Meanwhile, Phalodi (Jodhpur) topped the temperature chart on Saturday, recording a scorching maximum of 40.2 degrees Celsius. Following closely were Barmer and Jalore at 38.1 degrees Celsius each, while other regions like Jaisalmer, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Pilani, and Anta witnessed temperatures ranging from 36.4 to 37.6 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead, the Met office warns of a revival of heatwave conditions starting Monday, with most places expected to experience a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures.
