Udaipur, May 28, 2025 - Rajasthan is witnessing an unexpected shift in weather patterns during the Nautapa period. This is usually the hottest phase of summer and characterised by heatwave-like conditions. However, this is not being experienced across the State. Instead of the usual blistering heat, several regions are seeing dust storms, thunderstorms and rainfall over the past few days. Cities like Jaipur witnessed coolor climes owing to rain in the district.
Despite this shift, parts of western Rajasthan are still likely to experience extreme heat and dry conditions, while the eastern and southeastern districts can expect continued rainfall and cooler temperatures, according to the weather department.
A Yellow alert for thunderstorms and rainfall has been issued for May 29 by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in several districts in the State, including Ajmer, Udaipur, Pali, Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Jaipur, Alwar, Dungarpur, Bharatpur, Dholpur and Jhunjhunu.
According to the IMD, the current spell of wet weather is likely to persist for the next 4-5 days, covering around 15 districts in both eastern and western Rajasthan
