Temperatures Dip Below 10°C in Most Rajasthan Cities

Weather department issues alert for cloudy skies, thunder and light rainfall in Jaipur and Ajmer districts on January 10-11

Udaipur, January 9, 2025 - The cold wave has reached its peak in North India. Many parts of Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have seen temperatures drop below 5°C in just one night.

The intense cold in the past 3-4 days is because of the northern winds, causing a drop in minimum temperatures. Due to the change in the weather system, the night temperatures in 14 cities have fallen below 5°C. According to the weather department, the minimum temperature was below 10°C at almost all major cities across the State this morning. The night-time temperature in Fatehpur on Wednesday was recorded at 1.1°C, the lowest in the State, but went up to 3.3°C last night. Similarly, Nagaur recorded 1.7°C, and Mount Abu recorded 1.2°C. A drop of up to 4°C has been observed in both day and night temperatures.

According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance will activate from January 10. There are chances of light rain (mawath) on January 10-11 and possibility of cloudy skies, thunder and light rainfall in districts of the Jaipur and Ajmer divisions.

The impact of the weather system will be most significant on January 11. An Orange alert has been issued for Nagaur, Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Alwar and Bharatpur, while Yellow alert is issued for Jaipur, Ajmer, Dausa, Karauli, Dholpur, Sawai Madhopur, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh.
