Around half inch rain has been recorded in Udaipur city today late afternoon. The non seasonal precipitation followed by heavy thunderstorm and wind surprised the residents.

Meteorological department informed that the rain is not pre monsoon; however pre monsoon rain is expected in Udaipur region after 10 June.

According to the information, the humid day ended with dark clouds surrounding the city and soon followed the heavy wind flow with thunderstorm and rain.

Almost all areas of the city received heavy to moderate rain for nearly 25 minutes. Power failure and slight water logging were also reported in the city.

35000 wheat sacks soaked at Railway Station

Wheat sacks kept at Maharana Pratap Railway Station were soaked in rain. The wheat consignment was of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and delivered in Udaipur yesterday.

According to Shankar Lal, In charge of the FCI consignment, there were 65000 wheat sacks delivered yesterday by train. 30,000 sacks were transported to the warehouse, while 35000 were at Railway Station.

“Due to today’s rain, water got inside the sacks. But we will try to dry it and restore the wheat”, said Shankar lal.

Tree fell on Temple Dome

A large tree fell down on a temple dome due to thunderstorm today which also damaged a motorcycle parked nearby. The incident took place at Gulab Bagh.
