Udaipur, April 10, 2025 - The intense heatwave that has gripped the city over the past three to four days showed some let-down yesterday, April 9, after cloud cover in the late afternoon offered slight relief. This led to a drop of one degree in the daytime temperature, although night-time temperatures rose by about 2.5 degrees. The weather department has predicted a further dip in temperatures over the next two to three days.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature recorded yesterday, April 9, was 41.4°C, while the minimum was 27.1°C. A day earlier, the maximum was 42.4°C and the minimum was 24.7°C. This means there was a one-degree drop in the daytime temperature, but a rise of 2.4 degrees in the night-time temperature.
As a result, the day’s temperature remains 4.4 degrees above average, while the night temperature is 7.5 degrees higher than normal.
In Jaipur yesterday, strong winds swept across the city in the evening bringing some relief from the day-long heat. This was owing to the effect of a western disturbance across the State. Dust storms and rain hit Jaipur and several other cities in Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Centre, light rain followed by strong winds were also reported in Bikaner, Shekhawati, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur and Kota regions.
According to the weather office, the impact of the western disturbance is likely to continue until April 13. From today, April 10, onwards the frequency of dust storms and thunderstorms is expected to increase, affecting the entire State. This will help reduce the impact of the ongoing heatwave.
