Rajasthan Weather: Two-Day Yellow Alert for Rain and Hailstorm

A strong Western Disturbance brings rain, hailstorms and strong winds across Rajasthan including Udaipur; IMD issues alerts for multiple districts

Udaipur, April 7, 2026 – A strong and active Western Disturbance has led to a sharp change in the weather conditions across Rajasthan, including Udaipur with forecast for light intermittent rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hailstorms are also possible. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for strong winds, rainfall and hailstorms with Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur and Kota divisions expected to be most affected. Bikaner division and Shekhawati may receive 20–50 mm rainfall with winds blowing at 50–60 km/hr.

North-western Rajasthan is likely to experience rain and hailstorms along with strong winds starting Tuesday. A Yellow alert has been issued for Hanumangarh, Barmer, Churu, Tonk, Bhilwara, Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli, Dholpur, Sikar, Bundi, Bhilwara, Kota, Sawai Madhopur and surrounding areas. These districts may see light to moderate rain, strong winds (40–50 km/hr), and hailstorms. Some areas may also experience lightning.

This is the seventh strongest Western Disturbance to become active in the last 25 days.

After the Western Disturbance weakens, the weather is expected to become dry again from April 9 although clouds may persist throughout the week and winds will remain active.

On Monday (April 6) night, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Churu, and Sri Ganganagar experienced light rainfall with strong winds, providing relief from heat. Udaipur recorded a rise in temperature. The daytime temperature increased by 1.4 degrees compared to the previous 24 hours, reaching 33.2°C, making the afternoon heat noticeable. Night-time temperature also rose by 0.5 degrees and was recorded at 17.2°C.
