Udaipur Braces for Heavy Rainfall: IMD Issues Alerts

Rain continues for third day in Udaipur; heavy rainfall forecast for Udaipur and Jodhpur divisions on August 19-20-21

Udaipur, Aug 19, 2025 - Heavy rainfall is likely in Udaipur and Jodhpur divisions on August 19-20-21, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). On Monday August 18, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in some places across the State. The light rain in eastern and western Rajasthan provided slight relief to the public from the heat and humidity. However, Jaipur experienced intense humidity throughout the day. As per the IMD, the highest rainfall in Rajasthan was recorded in Chikli (Dungarpur) at 51 mm.

Yesterday, in Udaipur the spell of rain continued for the third consecutive day. Areas such as Chetak Circle, Sukhadia Circle, Sector-3, Manvakheda, Savina, Bhuwana and Pratap Nagar received 5-to-10 minutes of intense rainfall. According to the Water Resources Department, between Sunday 5:00 pm and Monday 8:00 am, the city received 4 mm of rain; Swaroop Sagar received 3 mm, Alsigarh 13 mm, Madar and Nai 9 mm each, Udai Sagar 2 mm and Vallabhnagar 7 mm of rainfall. 

However, despite the rain, the district's average rainfall figure has still not surpassed the normal mark. As of August 18, Udaipur district has received 414 mm of rainfall which is 7.2% below normal. Usually, 449 mm of rainfall is expected during this period.

The Sisarma river is flowing at a level of 2 feet, which has raised the water level of Lake Pichola by 1 inch to 10.4 feet. Fateh Sagar has also seen a 3-inch rise in water. The Madar canal, which feeds these lakes, is flowing at 2 feet.

The IMD in Jaipur has issued a Yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall in the district for today, and an orange alert for tomorrow, indicating the possibility of very heavy rain.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, the daytime temperature of the city dropped by 1.2°C to 31.6°C, and the night-time temperature also decreased slightly by 0.2°C to 25.6°C.
