Udaipur, June 12, 2025  – Weather pattern this year has been confusing so far. While May saw unusually cool weather, June is witnessing heatwave conditions. The Nautapa period, which is traditionally expected to bring extreme heat, remained cool with intermittent rainfall. But now the heat is back. The mercury has soared to 42.5°C and marks a return to extreme conditions after nearly 40 days.

On June 11, the day was 5°C hotter than normal. The average maximum temperature for June is usually around 37.5°C, but it shot up significantly. Night temperatures, which hovered around 28°C over the past three days, also rose sharply on Wednesday by 1.2°C, reaching 29.4°C - nearly 3°C above the June average of 26.4°C.

In Sri Ganganagar, the mercury touched 48.0°C on June 11, breaking a six-year record, with a 0.6°C rise in 24 hours. Seven cities have now crossed the 45°C mark, with most regions seeing temperatures 2°C to 6°C higher than average.

According to the weather department, the heatwave is expected to continue for 3-4 more days in most districts of Rajasthan, possibly with a slight increase in temperature.

A new weather system is expected to become active from June 15, bringing the possibility of rain and storms in 25 districts across Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer. The monsoon is expected to arrive on June 25 but the State could see some pre-monsoon showers before that.
