Yellow alert for dense fog issued in Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Tonk, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar for January 15; Orange alert for hailstorms in Alwar, Bharatpur, Bundi and Dholpur
Udaipur, January 14, 2025 - The city continues to experience a cold spell with a noticeable drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures. The maximum temperature went down from 22.7°C to 17°C, marking a fall of 5.7°C. Similarly, the minimum temperature dropped from 9.5°C to 6.4°C, a decline of 3.1°C.
A layer of fog blanketed parts of Ajmer district. Maximum temperature was at 18.5°C, a drop of 5.3 notches from the normal record this time of the year. The minimum temperature was at 8°C, a drop of 2.1°C from the norm.
According to the weather department's forecast, most districts in Rajasthan will experience dry weather. Yesterday, the weather was sunny in Jaipur and other districts after a bout of recent rains and hailstorms. Despite the presence of sunshine during the day, the cold still persists.
Going forward, the weather is expected to change again starting January 15. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a western disturbance will become active tonight, bringing changes to the weather tomorrow. An Orange alert has been issued for hailstorms in Alwar, Bharatpur, Bundi and Dholpur. A Yellow alert has been issued for dense fog in Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Tonk, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar for January 15. Additionally, the minimum temperature in most cities of the State has dropped by up to 5°C.
Other parts of North India has no respite from the cold, too. Delhi continues to shiver with temperature this morning at 9.8°C. A thin layer of ice formed on the surface of the Dal Lake in Srinagar with minimum temperature at -5.1°C and maximum temperature at 10°C.
