Heavy rainfall continues to batter Rajasthan, causing a flood-like situation in Jaipur and prompting the Meteorological Department to issue alerts for multiple districts across the state.

The persistent downpours have severely impacted daily life in Jaipur, with many low-lying areas submerged and traffic movement widely disrupted. Waterlogging has become a significant concern, with authorities scrambling to address the situation.

Alerts Issued Across Districts

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for several districts, including Bikaner, Churu, Nagaur, Ajmer, Bundi, Jodhpur, Pali, and Jaisalmer. These areas are expected to experience intermittent light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy showers potentially creating hazardous conditions.

A yellow alert has been sounded for Udaipur, Jaipur, Dausa, Jhunjhunu, Sawai Madhopur, Sriganganagar, Rajsamand, Sikar, Pratapgarh, Jalore, Sirohi, Bharatpur, Barmer, Dholpur, Hanumangarh, Bundi, Jhalawar, and Baran districts. These regions are likely to see light to moderate rainfall, with localized impacts anticipated.

Severe Situation in Jaipur and Surrounding Areas

In Jaipur, the heavy rainfall has created severe flooding in several neighborhoods, making life difficult for residents. The state capital is particularly hard-hit, with continuous rain causing widespread waterlogging.

In Alwar district, rivers have swelled to dangerous levels due to the heavy rain, particularly in Sariska, a region known for its tiger reserve. While the revival of these rivers has brought some relief, it also heightens the risk of flash floods, adding to the concerns of the local population.

Forecast and Future Expectations

Weather experts predict that the heavy rainfall in eastern Rajasthan might ease between August 17 and 18. However, this relief is expected to be temporary, as heavy rains are forecasted to resume in the region on August 22.

Additionally, moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is expected in parts of western Rajasthan, particularly in the Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions, over the next three to four days. The Udaipur division may experience light to moderate rainfall during this period.

Residents across the affected districts are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions as the state continues to face adverse weather conditions.
