2 Lions, 1 Tiger to be added in Sajjangarh Bio Park

Under the directions of Central Zoo Authority of India, New Delhi, Two male lions and one male tiger are transported from Benarghata, Bangluru to Udaipur’s Sajjangarh Biological Park.

All three animals are soon going to be added in the biological park of Udaipur. As per Dr. T Mohanraj, the animals are currently kept under quarantine process.

According to the information, this is the first time after the death of a male lion in Gulab Bagh Zoo in 2006 that lions are added in the biological park.

Both Lions are a hybrid species, a mix of Asiatic and African breeds.  The last time we had lions in Udaipur, all the three cats were Asiatic breed.  All three cats died between 2001 and 2006, leaving a 9 year gap after which we get to see Lions once again, this time at the Sajjangarh Biological Park.  Dr. Satish Sharma, ACF informed that the Ayaal (Hair on the underside of the Neck) are the identifiable differentiators between Asiatic and Hybrid lions.
