Iguanas - New Attraction at Sajjangarh Biological Park

Sajjangarh Biological Park in Udaipur welcomes iguana lizards and a male ostrich from Gujarat, forming a new ostrich pair and adding a fresh attraction for tourists

Udaipur, Feb 10, 2026 – The Sajjangarh Biological Park in Udaipur is to feature new attractions with the arrival of a male ostrich and iguana lizards from the Zoological Park in Kevadia, Gujarat. The two species were released into the park on Monday (February 9) night after a team from the Forest Department arrived here with them.

A female ostrich is already present in the park and with the arrival of the male ostrich, the pair is now complete. Iguanas are a genus of herbivorous lizards that are native to tropical areas of Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. 

DFO Yadvendra Singh Chundawat said that the ostrich and lizards were brought in exchange for wolves.

The Sajjangarh Biological Park, spread over an area of 36 ha, is located near the Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary on the outskirts of the city. The park has more than 21 species of animals and birds including lions, blackbucks, marsh crocodiles, leopards and hyenas.
