A Macaca mulatta (generally referred as Red-faced monkey) was rescued today by Wildlife Department from the Airport premises.

As informed by Dinesh Vaishnav, Wildlife Department, “It is at least 4-6 months old monkey, which was rescued today at 5:30 AM. It is believed to be a pet monkey.”

It was first sighted on the Airport a week ago, and was living in the premises since. It never posed any threat to authority or the passengers though.

Rescue efforts were going on from last 15 days. It was given an injection of unconsciousness but authorities failed in catching it.

Later Airport authorities installed a cage to catch the monkey and upon success they informed the officials of Wildlife Department. It was then sent to Gulab Bagh.
