They say, the love of a mother is limitless, boundless. In a desperate attempt to save her two month old daughter, a brave mother of Dagalfa village, around 60 Km from Udaipur fought off a panther.

They say, the love of a mother is limitless, boundless. In a desperate attempt to save her two month old daughter, a brave mother of Dagalfa village, around 60 Km from Udaipur fought off a panther.

Sadan, 25, who fought with the panther for 10 minutes, was initially joined by her pet dog and later by brother-in-law and neighbor who forced the panther to retreat. However, they all suffered injuries and were rushed to MB Hospital.

Sadan, wife of Laxman Meena, a tribal, was breastfeeding her child in the courtyard of her house, when she was attacked by the panther at 8 AM. She virtually threw her daughter on the ground and continued to face the panther for 10 minutes. Meanwhile the pet dog also joined.

Hearing their cries, Sadan’s brother-in-law, Wela (33) and neighbor Goma (75) rushed to the spot. The fight continued for 20 minutes more, forcing the panther to retreat into a room. Payal, the child is safe though she suffered injuries when her mother threw her on the ground.

Till the forest officials sent a team at around 10 AM, a group of lathi-wielding villagers guarded the room where the panther was cornered into. As the forest team found it difficult to control the situation, a rescue team of experts led by shooter, Satnam Singh was sent. After around 4 hours, the panther was taken out from the room after it was tranquilized through a hole drilled in the wall.

The panther was taken to Udaipur’s zoo. According to Dr. Himanshu Vyas, one of the legs of the panther was injured and he was kept under observation.
