Overflowing rivers and damaged trails prompt annual closure; safari activities to resume from October 1

Udaipur, July 1, 2025 - Owing to the monsoon season, jeep safaris will be suspended in all sanctuaries across Rajasthan, including Udaipur, starting today, July 1. This restriction will be enforced in Jaisamand, Kumbhalgarh and Bassi sanctuaries within Udaipur division.

However, local devotees will still be allowed to visit the ancient Mahadev Temple located inside the Jaisamand Sanctuary.

The ban on jeep safaris will be lifted on October 1.

The Forest Department implements this restriction every year because the monsoon rains cause dirt roads in the forests to wash away, and rivers and streams often overflow, making jungle safaris dangerous.
