Panic in Udaipur’s Bhupalpura After Leopard Spotted in Colony

Local residents believe the leopard may have come into the residential area from the Ayad river side which flows behind Krishnapura

Udaipur, Dec 18, 2025 - Panic spread in Krishnapura Colony, located in the Bhupalpura area of Udaipur city, on Thursday (December 18) morning after reports emerged of a leopard being spotted in the colony. According to eyewitnesses, the leopard first climbed onto the wall of a house and then jumped down and entered another house. After that, the leopard was no longer visible, creating panic among residents.

As soon as news of the leopard sighting spread, a large number of people gathered in the colony.

Local resident Vimal Shakawat said he saw the leopard in the colony at around 5:30 am and immediately informed his brother. Subsequently, the local police and the Forest Department were intimated and teams from the Forest Department and Bhupalpura police station reached the spot. As a precautionary measure, local residents were advised to remain indoors.

The police controlled the crowd while the Forest Department team actively searched for the leopard which was ultimately captured.
