Panther Rani undergoes surgery in Bio Park
Panther Rani underwent surgery on Friday.
Panther Rani underwent a 2 hour surgery in Sajjangarh Bio Park on Friday. As per reports, the panther was suffering from pyometra (uterine infection) for which ovarian-hysterectomy was performed.
During the surgery, the panther was given fluid therapy and necessary life saving drugs. Rani was detected with pus in her uterus. Since the quantity of pus was around a litre, it was decided that her uterus be removed to save her life.
10 year old panther Rani had stopped taking food in the last 8 to 10 days. Since it was having a negative effective on her health, wildlife medical officer Dr. Arvind Mathur was called from Jaipur. A medical board was formed along with Dr. Karmendra Pratap Singh of Bio Park. It was henceforth decided to operate the female panther. On Friday morning, Rani was tranquilised and her uterus was removed to save her life.
