A panther killed 4 goats in Pipliya village a couple of days back and entered a school at 11:30 a.m. which caused chaos and everyone started running here and there for safety. All present locked themselves in classes and various rooms of the school.
A pair of panthers entered the school which terrified the staff and children. After hearing safety calls from those present on the school ground, everyone took shelter in classes and locked the doors. The panthers left the venue after moving around for some time. Teacher Kishan Soni said that panthers were a common sight in the school area and parents and guardians have also been requested to stay alert all the time.
The inhabitants informed that panthers have been frequenting that area and more than 10 panther families have been spotted a number of times preying on cattle and even attacking people. 3 goats that were killed belonged to Anada Gameti and 1 belonged to Khalu. One of the goats killed was left hanging on a tree by the panther. The villagers have asked the forest department to capture these panthers to provide relief to the inhabitants.
