Wildlife and Eco-Tourism Push: PMC Reviews Development Plan for Baghdarra Reserve
Udaipur, July 19, 2025 - The first meeting of the Project Management Consultancy formed to develop Baghdarra Cocodile Conservation Reserve with the aim of promoting wildlife conservation and eco-tourism in collaboration with Hindustan Zinc Limited was held on July 18 in the departmental auditorium located at Chetak Circle under the chairmanship of Chief Forest Conservator SR Yadav.
Deputy Forest Conservator Wildlife Yadavendra Singh Chundawat said an MoU was signed between the Forest Department and Hindustan Zinc on March 28, 2025, regarding development works in Baghdarra Cocodile Conservation Reserve.
As per the MoU, development works worth Rs 506.81 lakh will be done. A five-member PMC (Project Management Consultancy) has been formed in this regard. It includes retired Chief Forest Conservator Rahul Bhatnagar, retired Assistant Forest Conservator and Wildlife Expert Satish Kumar Sharma, Hindustan Zinc's CSR Head Anupam Nidhi, Chief Financial Controller Rajiv Pitti and Project Manager Namrah Yasha.
In the first meeting of the consultancy, the committee gave suggestions for amendments in the works proposed in the conservation reserve. Mainly construction of patrolling track, renovation of old ouds, Lantana eradication, crocodile nesting point, basking area, grassland development, etc. are proposed to be done in the reserve area.
Assistant Forest Conservator Wildlife Sajjangarh Kapil Rajpurohit and Consultant Architect Sanjeev Gupte along with committee members were present in the meeting.
