Ustad aka Tiger T-24 relocated to Sajjangarh Biological Park is now facilitated to hunt in the cage itself. The forest department arranged to send a live calf (young buffalo) inside the cage so that the tiger can hunt and assuage his hunger.

This provision is against the rules by Central Zoo Authority however, the Forest Department rationalized the action stating that this will sustain the wild hunting streak in him. Also, CCF Rahul Bhatnagar seems to support the argument. The officials also say that through this, T-24’s habit of hunting and killing will not subside if he is not given dead meat instead.

The officials said that they have received orders from Jaipur to follow this practice as long as a verdict is not passed in the court related to T-24.

However, to consider the cons, hunting a live animal in the cage will lead to growth of bacteria as tiger leaves a part of their hunt and the workers may pull out of killed animal but aren’t able to completely clean the cage. This is also the main reason behind the demise of Tiger Monu who suffered from leptospirosis in this cage.
