2 passengers die as Truck hits Bus at Amberi

Two daily wage laborers travelling in an overloaded bus coming towards Udaipur died when a truck trailer knocked the bus from the rear. The accident took place today morning at Amberi Road, near Amarakhji.

Two daily wage laborers travelling in an overloaded bus coming towards Udaipur died when a truck trailer knocked the bus from the rear. The accident took place today morning at Amberi Road, near Amarakhji.

According to sources, the bus from Village Rama, near Eklingji was coming towards Udaipur; the bus was overloaded with most of the daily wage laborers commuting in the bus every day. When the accident took place, many passengers were standing on the rear side of bus were holding on to the iron steps.

Two of the victims, Goverdhan Gameti and Waga Gameti were also leaning at the back of the bus, when the truck trailer hit the bus killing Goverdhan Gameti on the spot, whereas Waga, who was severely injured on both legs, succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical aid in hospital. Immediately after the accident, another truck coming from behind could not stop and to prevent further casualties, the driver turned the truck on to a hillock, crushing a few two wheelers, which were parked there.

The truck trailer driver and the spotter ran away from the scene. A number of other passengers in the bus received minor injuries and were relieved after getting primary treatment. Most of the buses running on remote areas generally don’t follow any precautionary measures to avoid such mishap. Overloading is one of the major causes of such accidents.
