A 7-year-old school girl sustained severe leg injuries in a freak road accident that occurred today afternoon at Dewali- Fatehpura Road.
The victim, Kanishka Sharma, student of Kendriya Vidyalaya and resident of Badgaon was going home in pick-n-drop auto rickshaw. Kanishka was reportedly sitting on the corner of rickshaw with her one leg slightly hanging out.
According to Ambamata Police, the auto driver allegedly tried to overtake a school bus and during that, Kanishka’s leg got hit by the bus badly.
However, people who admitted Kanishka in hospital said that she fell down on the road from the auto rickshaw and at the same time, a school bus which was coming from behind overran, crushing her leg.
The girl was rushed to Mewar Hospital where she is undergoing treatment.
Many auto rickshaws in the city are providing pick-n-drop facilities to school students. Some of them don’t take care of security measures and overload the auto with student passengers, most of these students are from class nursery to 10th.
Such overloading creates security issues and above this, rash driving makes it more dangerous for students.
Civic administration, school authority and parents should take effective action to secure the lives of their children.
