A 25 year old auto rickshaw driver died today morning during treatment at M.B hospital. He was admitted since 24th April, after he consumed a poisonous substance.

The victim, Lokesh Lal Yadav did this under mental pressure from high rates of interest levied on him by a money lender, as per his family.

Lokesh, a local auto rickshaw driver of Roun, near Eklavya colony was driving auto rickshaw owned by his contractor Raju Harijan of Charak hostel from last 1.5 years.

Lokesh use to pay an amount to Raju on daily basis (a part of per day earning). Moreover he had borrowed an amount of Rs.10,000 from Raju few months back, as per police.

Lokesh’s elder brother Lalit Kumar informed that Raju extracted huge amount of interest from the victim.

Recently Lokesh paid Rs.15,000 to Raju and closed his loan. But few days later he lent him another sum of money and started threatening him to pay the interest.

“Lokesh, out of fear and frustration consumed poisonous substance and fell unconscious on 24th April and was rushed to hospital. Since then, he was receiving treatment but today at around 3.30 am he died and his body was shifted to mortuary. His body was handed over to the family after postmortem,” informed Ambamata police.

“Prima facie, the incidence was considered as a suicide but the reason and other facts is a part of investigation,” said police.
