A 20-year-old girl committed suicide in Lake Fatehsagar today evening. The body of the deceased was pulled out by the rescue team and shifted to mortuary.

According to police, the deceased girl is identified and her relatives have been informed about the mishap.

Police informed that a bag was found abandoned on the lake side which created doubt among some passersby. Later the body of the girl was seen floating over the lake.

The victim was a student of 1^st year in an engineering college and originally belonged to Ajmer’s Shastri Colony, located at Pushkar Road. She was currently staying in a rented house at Ayad Bridge.

According to sources, some people who were going towards Badi Village saw the girl roaming around Rani Road (between Dewali-Rani Road) in the evening. The same people while returning saw a bag lying abandoned on the same place where they saw the girl.

Doubting on the circumstances, they tried to find the girl and suddenly discovered her body floating over the lake. Soon many people gathered around the area and Police was also informed.

Police checked her bag and found college identity card which helped them reaching girl’s parents.

The reason of the suicide is still not known and police is investigating the case.
