A truck driver succumbed to his injuries after the truck he was driving fell in an open gouge and was trapped inside for 8-9 hours. The accident took place last night at Village Nela, Balicha bypass.

The deceased, Ravindra Kumar Yadav (24) resident of Santkabirnagar (U.P) was going from Delhi to Mumbai with a consignment of milk powder.

While Ravindra passed through Nela Village, he noticed a truck parked on the road side. In an attempt to avoid the further crash, Ravindra turned the truck towards rough road and fell in the open gouge which was partially filled with water.

The front side of the truck got completely submerged in water trapping Ravindra inside the truck. The accident took place at around 11:30pm.

Goverdhan Vilas police rushed to the scene and started rescue operation with the help of cranes. However the body of the driver got stuck in the debris and could not be removed till early morning.

According to the police, the body is shifted to the mortuary and the relatives of deceased are also informed.

Police also informed that before the accident, there was a small mishap of two trucks took place on the same road and due to that, one of the trucks was parked on road side.

Prima facie, the victim truck driver could not able to judge that the truck he saw was parked or moving. But as soon as he came closer, he noticed the threat and immediately turned the truck towards uneven surface but could not see the gorge.

Ravindra started his journey on 2^nd January and was going to Mumbai via Ahmedabad.
