A dry-clean shop was gutted after a fire last night at around 2 o’clock.  Locals of the area including the shop owner tried to control the fire on their own as the fire brigade vehicles were unaable to respond due to the narrow lanes of the area in which the shop was located.  The dry-clean shop is situated at Nani Gali, Ganesh Ghati.

Almost everything kept in the shop was destroyed in flames including Rs.25000 cash, a DVD player, 2 cupboards, a home theatre, garments inventory, documents including mark sheets, bank pass books, etc.

“I’ve lost everything in this fire, this shop was my only source of income” said a distressed Raj Kumar Vasita, owner of the shop.

The fire broke out after midnight and was first noticed by Prabhulal Vaishnav, the landlord who immediately informed Rajkumar about the mishap.  Rajkumar rushed to the spot and tried to save his goods kept inside the shop but due to the intensity of the fire he was not able to save anything and also burnt one of his hands in an attempt to get inside the burning shop.

The locals informed the fire brigade but the fire rescue team could not reach the shop.  However, after three hours of intense struggle, the locals managed to control the fire.  The cause of the fire is still not clear.
