A 45 year old man died on the spot after getting hit by a lightning here at Umerda village on Thursday. The mishap occurred in the afternoon at 1.30 PM while the victim was working at his farm house situated near his residence.

According to the police, the victim was identified as Kerin Meena (45) of Umerda village, a father of 4 children including 1 son and 3 daughters and was working as a watchman at a private college situated in the same area.

The police further said that the lightning struck the victim which electrocuted him and got succumbed to his injuries. Later, Hiran Magri police was intimated about the mishap that rushed to the scene and shifted the dead body to the mortuary, Assistant Sub Inspector Sajjan Singh of Hiran Magri police station added.

Ex Sarpanch of the area Logar Lal while talking to UT said that the villagers saw the thunder strike in their area on Thursday afternoon. After listening to the loud sound of thunder everybody were schocked and came out of their houses and witnessed one of the neighbors Kerin Meena lying on the ground. He was struck by the lightening and was screaming in pain. The villagers although hurried towards the victim but couldn’t do anything to help him.
