An electric transformer caught fire at the compound of an under construction building near MB Hospital’s Blood Bank. The fire brigade reached the spot immediately and the flames were brought under control. No casualties were reported.

The fire was spotted by a patient’s relative Bherulal, who immediately informed the labourers working nearby. Before the police and fire fighters could be informed, the fire spread with flames leaping several feet in the air.

Two vehicles of fire brigade rushed to the spot and it took them almost half an hour to control the flames before they could reach the Blood Bank building.

According to police, “The fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in the transformer.”
