A jeep carrying students rolled over today afternoon near Paduna Toll way on NH 8. One passenger was killed while a teenage student went into coma. The reason behind the accident is said to be overloading of passengers.

Few of the student passengers sustained severe-head injuries, while a passenger succumbed to his injuries during treatment at MB hospital. Later this afternoon, one of the students who was in serious condition went into coma.

The mishap occurred today when a Tata Sumo jeep was carrying around 30 to 35 students from Paduna Govt. Higher Sec. School to Patia village on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway. Suddenly, another speeding vehicle overtook the jeep. The jeep driver applied brakes to control the vehicle, which instead lost its balance and overturned.

A Highway ambulance rushed to the spot and carried some injured children to Tidi Health Center while other students were taken to the MB hospital, Udaipur. Heeralal (32) of Jhabla village died whilst treatment.

Police seized the Bolero car which overtook the jeep while speeding. The driver left the car on the spot and a case has been registered against him for driving negligently, as informed by SHO Tidi Police station, Jitendra Singh.
