Depressed by the allegation of theft, a 30 year old man working as a shopkeeper at a wholesale cloth shop at Ghanta Ghar killed himself by consuming poison.

Mohanlal Patel’s condition was said to be critical for few days since he was admitted in Udaipur Hospital and his younger brother Sohanlal had appealed to the Police Station Head, Jhadol to take stern action against those who harassed and abused his brother of stealing items worth 12 Lac rupees which ultimately forced Mohanlal to take such a serious step.

Mohan was working from the last 15 years at a cloth shop named Leelaram Dayaram located at Mochiwada, near Ghanta Ghar. Some nearby shop owners Harish and Satish s/o Fatahlal Jain accused Mohan of stealing goods worth Rs.12 Lac from their shop and asked Sohan to tell his brother Mohan to come and meet them.

According to the application written by Sohan, his brother Mohan was abused and harassed by Harish, Satish and one unknown man who accused him for theft.

Depressed by the false allegation, Mohan went to his native village in Jhadol and consumed poison on 14 July.

His brother Sohanlal demanded stern action against all those who provoked his brother to committing suicide. Many people of the community gathered outside mortuary and demanded action against the culprits.

At evening, Fatahlal Jain has agreed to pay Rs.4 Lac as a compensation to the family of deceased.
