Getting wedged in the door of a packed train cost him of his life. Moreover, the lack of alleged timely medical assistance also caused this tragic accident that took place last night of 10th November near the Rana Pratap Nagar Railway Station (Old Station), Udaipur.
Ram Pravesh Sahani (55), working as a laborer in Udaipur was on his way back to his native place Samastipur, Bihar. Sahani took the Gwalior Express along with his family members. According to sources, Sahani was caught between the passengers in the jam packed train and got stuck at the gate while his family was able to move inside.
At 10:30pm the train left from Pratap Nagar railway station. Just a few minutes after the train left the platform, Sahani suddenly lost his balance and fell down due to which his leg was overrun by the train, chopping it into two pieces.
After nearly 20 minutes of the accident, a passerby identified as Rakesh Jain, resident of University Road saw the man severely injured and lying on the track. Jain rushed to the railway staff for help but they allegedly misbehaved with him rather than responding to rescue the gravely injured man.
According to Rakesh, he then saw a few boys at the accident spot and asked them for help. The boys called the 108 Ambulance service and later Sahani was taken to the MB Hospital. However, due to heavy blood flow, Sahani succumbed to his injures during treatment.
UT was not able to reach any railway authority for their alleged negligence over the incident.
